Announcing Our Spring Production!

Spring 2019:  ALICE @ WONDERLAND by Jonathan Yukich, in collaboration with Lanesboro Public Schools

Winner of the Shubert Fendrich Memorial Playwriting Contest, this retelling of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale will feature a cast solely of Lanesboro Elementary School students!

What would happen if a 21st century Alice collided with Lewis Carroll’s legendary Wonderland?  This modern retelling of the classic children’s story has all of the characters you know and love, including the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts.  The story is laid out in traditional style, except that Alice is distinctly contemporary, complete with cell phone in hand.  Full of references to text messaging and social media, the play imagines a present-day Alice encountering the Wonderland so many of us treasure.  A sharply told, crisply paced ride, this quality adaptation has been praised for its humor, modern style and appeal to both children and adults.

Performances are Saturday, May 4, at 7pm and Sunday, May 5, at 1pm at the St. Mane Theater in Lanesboro.

Directing Workshop Presented by New Minowa Players

Have you ever thought you would like to direct a show? Have you not proposed directing because you felt that you wouldn’t know how? Have you directed shows and think you would like to learn more? New Minowa Players presents A Directing Workshop led by Kristen Underwood, with assistance from Aaron Kvale and Sheryl Scheffert. The workshop will be presented on Saturday, March 2nd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The cost is $10 for members of New Minowa Players and $20 for non-members. The entrance fee covers all materials and lunch. (Please contact NMP at newminowaplayers@gmail.com with any special dietary needs so they can accommodate them.) Production Postponement

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we regret that we will be postponing our winter play, THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY. We hope to present an even fuller version of this work to you sometime in the near future. Thanks to Catie Glynn, the workshop participants, and the cast for all of their hard work. And thanks to you in the community for your support and understanding.

CAST MEMBER NEEDED: Male in his early 60's for the role of Bert, (a local farmer, who finds the telephone booth is his yard). STAGE MANAGER NEEDED: To help run rehearsals. Call for Stage Manager for THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY

Have you ever wondered what it takes to bring a production to the stage?  Well, here's your chance to find out!  Director/Creator Catie Glynn is looking for a Stage Manager/Assistant to be her right-hand.   Specifically, she needs someone who can take notes, help with scheduling and be responsible for running the stage; i.e., managing props, calling cues, etc.  This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to bringing an original work to life!  Those interested can come to the auditions on Saturday, January 19, from 1pm to 3pm at Discovery Faith, 507 Parkway Avenue South, Lanesboro, or email Catie at catieglynn@gmail.com.

AUDITIONS & WORKSHOPS for our 2019 Winter play, THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY!

THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY is performing artist Catherine Glynn's newest devised theatrical creation. Inspired by Our Town, Under Milk Wood, The Spoon River Anthology and a recent news-story on NPR, this play takes place after an epic flood has hit Southeastern Minnesota. Set in a fictional town along the Root River, one of the remaining undamaged structures is the community's lone public phone booth that washed up into the yard of a local farmer. What ensues are conversations in the phone booth that connect the living, the dead and those in between. Told with humor, engaging storytelling and a tinge of heartache, THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY will introduce a wide range of lively characters who may just remind you of the importance of staying connected to one another. In addition to writing the play, Glynn is offering free workshops to the public in storytelling, monologue writing and movement.
