AUDITIONS & WORKSHOPS for our 2019 Winter play, THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY!

THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY is performing artist Catherine Glynn's newest devised theatrical creation. Inspired by Our Town, Under Milk Wood, The Spoon River Anthology and a recent news-story on NPR, this play takes place after an epic flood has hit Southeastern Minnesota. Set in a fictional town along the Root River, one of the remaining undamaged structures is the community's lone public phone booth that washed up into the yard of a local farmer. What ensues are conversations in the phone booth that connect the living, the dead and those in between. Told with humor, engaging storytelling and a tinge of heartache, THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY will introduce a wide range of lively characters who may just remind you of the importance of staying connected to one another. In addition to writing the play, Glynn is offering free workshops to the public in storytelling, monologue writing and movement.

Announcing Our 2019 Winter Play!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! For our winter play, LCT is excited to present a new work by local performing artist, Catie Glynn: THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY. Inspired by OUR TOWN, THE SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY, and UNDER MILKWOOD--THE ROOT RIVER ANTHOLOGY is a play about a small rural town nestled along the Root River in Southeastern Minnesota. Following an epic flood, the local public telephone booth ends up in a farmer's yard creating long distance connections between the living, the dead, and those in between. In addition to Catie’s written script, a unique aspect of this work will come from a series of monologue-writing/storytelling workshops conducted by Glynn and attended by local residents, culminating in a truly dynamic production. More to come. . . Stay tuned! (image artwork, “Night Call” by Sara Slee Brown, used by permission of the artist.)
